Oakwood Mine Fayette County, WV

One of my historical passions is old photographs. I am the one who drives his wife crazy by spending way too much time looking through old photos at any antique store I happen to find. A co-worker of mine once told me that my son was going to be so confused trying to figure out who his family after seeing all the photos I have collected. Guilty as charged...sorry Patton Burk.

With that said, here is a photo of the Oakwood tipple  in Carlisle, Fayette County, West Virginia.  This is one of my favorite photos given the fact that this is the coal mine that my paternal grandfather worked at.
